The apartment was large, clean and suited our party very well. Excellent view onto the square. Lake visible but great to walk out front door onto lake side. Would stay again.

We did not have a problem collecting the keys, as we used a taxi company recommended by Sarah and they knew the system. We arrived earlier than expected, but Roy and Mari-lyn let us drop our luggage in the apartment and they were most helpful in suggesting places to eat and shop. The apartment was super, much larger than expected and very well equipped. The only criticism would be that the half bathroom is more a utility room with a toilet and sink in it. That said, it was fine for us as there was only 2 of us. We loved Salo and the position of the apartment, literally a minute walk to the ferry terminal and a 15 minute stroll the the big Italmark supermarket. the shopper trolley in the apartment is very useful. We really liked the pizzas at Papillon ( left from the front door) and also the pizza restaurant directly below the apartment. In the evenings, we usually stopped for a nightcap at the bar in Piazza Vittoria opposite the ferry stop – very friendly staff and reasonable prices. As has been said before, the gelateria in Cathedral Square is excellent – can highly recommend the chocolate Barolo icecream. Cathedral Square can be a bit noisy at times, but we didnt find this a problem at all. Restaurant LOca Cioca and Ostellerie di Mezzo are well worth a visit for local regional food. Overall a great relaxing holiday and very helpful friendly rental staff.

The apartment was very comfortable and very well placed with easy access to the lakefront, restaurants, the boats and the ice cream shop in the piazza to the rear of the building! The staff I dealt with were extremely helpful and changed the start date at very short notice with no objections at all. I had difficulty in finding the key pick up point and the apartment but they came and met me and showed the way which is much was more than I would have expected so top marks for helpfulness.

An excellent property, clean and spacious, fully equipped with everything we needed. The dual aspect of the large windows in the living area, and the view of the lake, gave the apartment a lovely light and airy feeling. The location is overlooking the Cathedral piazza, which can be noisy at times, especially during weekends – and during the summer period live music and entertainment is sometimes held in the piazza – we didnt find this a problem as the shutters muffle the noise when youre ready for bed (and you have a great view of whatever event is going on!). The best ice cream in Salo is sold in the Gelateria across the square, and consequently it frequently has queues outside until late, we visited it for an ice cream every evening. Leaving the building from the other door you find yourself directly on the lake-front promenade, which is great to sit on one of the many benches and watch the world go by. This end of the promenade is less busy than the other end, but still just an easy stroll to anything you may want. The ferry terminal is literally a 1 minute walk, perfect for when youve come back after a long day around the lake. The nearest supermarket is about 20 – 30 minutes walk away, but the owners have thoughtfully provided a large wheeled shopping trolley, so it was no problem to bring back shopping including heavy items like bottled water. We found the property to be exactly as described (except there is no hairdryer – this has now been removed from the advert). We had a problem with the dishwasher not working at the start of our stay, but the staff at Garda Homes were great – coming over and fixing it as soon as we contacted them. It was really useful having a second wc, and in reality the full bathroom is more spacious then it appears in the photos. As mentioned in some of the previous reviews, collecting the key is a little time consuming, and you need to be aware that it is collected from Tormini, outside Salo (a couple of miles from the apartment), as this may impact on your travel arrangements – especially if you dont have your own car. However, we didnt have any problem with the actual process of getting the key, just had to change our plans from arriving in Salo by ferry, to arriving by taxi once we realised the key was not located within walking distance from the property. We experienced no difficulty identifying which key or apartment was ours, as it is now clearly marked with a 10, and we had no difficulty using any of the keys (no wiggling required!) A second set of keys has now also been provided – as suggested by a previous reviewer – ideal if you are a party of 2 couples, or with older children. A suggestion we have is to provide a guest book in the property, for guests to leave their recommendations and suggestions e.g. we loved Papillon restaurant (turn left and walk to the end of the promenade when you leave the property by the Lake-front door), although there was some information on local places of interest left in the apartment, and the Tourist Information Office is not far (you may want to be aware that TIOs only hold information on their own towns – not other towns around the lake you may be interested in visiting). All in all we thought it was a great apartment, in a great location. Salo is a lovely town, and although we enjoyed visiting others around the lake we were glad we chose to stay in Salo. We would thouroughly recommend this apartment and Salo.

Thank you Stephanie for such a detailed review!
I just wanted to point out that we offer to bring keys out to anyone arriving by public transport, and have done so many times. We provide the flexible key collection arrangement for those arriving with a car as this allows them to collect keys whenever they like, rather than having to adhere to a set time which is obviously the case when we bring keys out to you.
Also the owners had provided a hairdryer, but the previous guests obviously took it home with them by mistake. We have now replaced it but we didnt change the advert – a hairdryer was never advertised.
Thanks again for such an in-depth review, much appreciated. Do come back soon!
    Sarah

Spent an incredibly enjoyable week in this apartment in Salo, Lake Garda. The apartment is very spacious and well equipped. The location is second to none with the very close proximity of both the cathedral and the lake makes this quite a magical place to stay and gives a very authentic Italian experience. I always say I will never visit the same place twice but this could be the exception to the rule and I would be happy to re-visit in the future. Many Thanks. Norma Taylor
